Obituary for Murray Kula

Murray Kula
Murray Robert Kula, 67, of Windsor, passed away peacefully with his entire family by his side on May 7, 2017.
He was born July 13, 1949, in Missouri to Robert and Hazel (Steward) Kula. He grew up in the Greeley area.
Murray graduated from Greeley West High School where he was an all-state track athlete. He earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado where he played running back and safety for the Bears football team.
On Aug. 15, 1970, he married his college sweetheart, Cheryl Mueller in Denver and together they had three children, Brian Scott (Marla) Kula, Lindsey Ann (Kent) Ervin and Brigg Lee (Tess) Kula.
Mr. Kula spent his life teaching and coaching, with most of his career at Windsor High School where he spent countless hours at school sporting events. He was a head starter at the Colorado High School State Track and Field Championships at Jeffco Stadium and started many other Colorado meets over the last three decades. He was a ski instructor at Eldora Ski Area. He loved sports, being outdoors and was the original “American Picker.”
In addition to his wife and children, Murray is survived by his mother, Hazel Kula; sister Susan (Al) Unser and nephew Darin (Angila) Pine; father in law, Bill (Sandy) Mueller; mother in law, Margie Day; brother in law, Don (Diane) Mueller; brother in law, Jim Mueller; 11 Grandkids: Paige K. Kula, AJ Kula, Campbell Lancaster, Isa Lancaster, Bailey Kula, Paige L. Kula, Nathan Kula, Eligh White, Sawyer Kula, Owen Ervin and Finn Ervin
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Kula.
Murray’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 pm., Friday, May 19, at the Windsor Recreation Center. Dinner will be served and children are welcome.
