She was the proud owner of the Valley Restaurant in Gypsum, CO, a beloved establishment that became the cornerstone of the community. Her restaurant was more than just a place to eat it-it was a gathering spot where friends and neighbors came together. Some patrons dined there six days a week. Charlene worked as a secretary to the president of the Brown Palace in downtown Denver during the 1970s. Beyond her work, Charlene had many Passions.

She loved fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden. She also loved those slot machines and Vegas was always lighter in the wallet when she left. Charlene is survived by her daughter Colleen Nichols, granddaughter Daphne Nichols 4 grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband Fred Hartle, daughter Daphne Hartle, son Larry Hartle, parents Charlie and Alice Pierce, Sister Yvonne Ike, and brothers Frank and Richard Pierce.
