It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Pacini, age 91, on Thanksgiving evening, November 28, 2024, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Surrounded by her loving husband and family, Barbara peacefully entered eternal rest.
Born on March 15, 1933, in Pennsylvania to James Powell and Mary (Meggert) Powell, Barbara’s early life was shaped by the values of family and devotion. She married the love of her life, Gene Pacini, on August 10, 1957, and together they created a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Barbara and Gene made their home in Pennsylvania until they moved to Colorado in 1994, where they would settle for good.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker whose life revolved around her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took great pride in nurturing those she loved. A talented baker, Barbara was known for filling her home with the delicious scents of freshly baked pies and cookies, always ensuring there was a warm meal on the table. She cherished the simple joys of life and found happiness in caring for those around her. Her kindness extended beyond her family as she lovingly cared for stray animals, welcoming them into her home with open arms.
Travel was a cherished pastime for Barbara. She and Gene, along with their son, James, traveled extensively, taking road trips across the United States and visiting places like Destin, Florida; Arizona; Nevada and Colorado. Later, her granddaughter, Jennifer, joined in these adventures, and Barbara’s love for exploring new places continued to bring joy to her heart. Along the way, Barbara developed a love for Native American culture, especially turquoise jewelry and moccasins, which she wore with pride. She had a particular fondness for bright, bold colors and shiny, sequined clothing, and her collection of costume and fine jewelry reflected her lively and vibrant personality.
Barbara was also a devout Catholic, attending Mass every Sunday until her health no longer permitted. Her faith was a constant source of strength, and she lived her life with a generous spirit, always offering help to anyone in need. She wore Chanel No. 5 perfume throughout her life, a signature scent that will forever remind those who knew her of her warmth, elegance, and grace.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Powell, and her brothers, Jim and John Powell. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Gene Pacini; her son, James Pacini (Diane); her granddaughter, Jennifer Bieber (Pacini) (Joseph); and her two great-grandchildren, Emma (12) and Harlow “Harley” (9). She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Barbara’s light will continue to shine through the memories she created with her family, and her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her family.
A memorial Mass will be held in her honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the local animal shelter, as Barbara had a special place in her heart for stray animals.
Heaven has gained another angel, and we take comfort in knowing she is watching over us all. May she rest in peace.
