Barbara Gale Walker Hyink, aged 77, died peacefully at home in Severance, Colorado on October 30, 2024. Born on February 23, 1947, in Lamar, Colorado to Mildred and J. Daryl Walker. Barbara was the oldest of seven children growing up in Walsh, Colorado. She graduated from Walsh High School, received her Bachelor's degree at Univ. of Colorado, Master’s at Colorado State, and Doctorate at Texas Tech.
Barbara married Bruce Hyink on July 4, 1970 in Walsh. She worked as a schoolteacher, University Lecturer, and Project Manager for JCPenney and Aegon. Lived in Boulder, Golden, Ft. Collins, Lakewood CO, Abilene, San Angelo, Amarillo, Lubbock, Richardson, and Dallas, TX before retiring to Severance. She loved reading, birdwatching, Civil War history, and traveling.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, J. Daryl Walker, her brother, Jack Walker (Ruth), and her brother-in-law Larry Lucas (Penny).
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bruce Hyink, and two daughters, Anne Hyink (Bill Perry) and Cheryl Hyink Guy (Corky Guy), and her three grandchildren, Ella Perry, Walker Perry, and Collin Guy.
Barbara is also survived by her mother, Mildred Walker (age 99), her sisters, Penny Lucas, Sandra Haman (John Vavra), Tracy McIver (Brad McIver), sister-in-law Ruth Walker, brothers Hal Walker (Carol Walker) Wade Walker (Jill Walker), numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
