Curtis "Curt" Leigh Hartzell, 87, of Morgan, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. Born on February 25, 1938, to Alvin and Anne Hartzell, Curt was raised in Morgan, where he developed a love for the outdoors, family, and community.

Upon his passing, Curt was joyfully greeted in heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He was preceded in death by his brother, Al Hartzell.

After graduating high school, Curt attended St. Olaf College before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. He later built a career as a meteorologist, a profession that combined his fascination with weather and his keen analytical mind.

Curt married his high school sweetheart, Joan, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They were blessed with three children, Carie, Jeff, and Ronda, and lovingly welcomed many foster children into their home. Curt and Joan’s unwavering kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people and families. They cherished every moment spent with their family, including their nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

An avid outdoorsman, Curt found joy in fishing and sports. He was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Vikings, always cheering on his teams with enthusiasm.

Curt will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and the wisdom he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on in the stories told by his loved ones and the countless memories they hold dear. Curt’s love, laughter, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Per Curt’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held, as his family chooses to honor him privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Outdoor Colorado Youth
