Donald R Schiers

Donald Schiers entered the gates of Heaven the morning of June 13th, 2024. With much of his life spent in Dubuque, Iowa, and a short period of time in Arizona, Don spent his final years in Northern Colorado around all of his children and grandchildren. Don was a family man who enjoyed every opportunity he had to make his loved ones laugh. Before starting his family Don served as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force and received both a national defense service medal and a good conduct medal. Don loved to fish, watch westerns, and spend quality time with his wife. Don’s family would joke calling him “MacGyver” as he had a love of fixing things his own way. 

Don is survived by his wife of 64 years Donna, his children: Mike [Amy] Schiers, Trish Alvarez, Kelly [Tony] Morrison, Lisa [Pete] Carr, and Laurie Otero, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Don lived his life full of compassion, humor, and love for his family. 

Don lived his life full of compassion, humor, and love for his family. His strong faith and love of our Lord comforted him throughout his life. While our hearts mourn the loss, we are at peace knowing he is free of pain and with our Heavenly Father watching over us.

In honor of his final wishes Don’s Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, CO on July 3rd, 2024, at 10:30 AM with reception to follow at the family home.
