Doris Angleton passed away peacefully on December 9th, with family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered as “The Best Mom Ever”. She was known by all she met for her kindness, compassion and sense of humor.
She was born in New Jersey, moved to Florida and upon finishing high school pursued a career in nursing starting in Macon, Georgia. Nursing took her to NYC where she continued her education to become an OB and delivery nurse. She then moved to Los Alamos where she met the love of her life, George. They had many wonderful adventures as they moved around the US, becoming parents to 5 girls along the way. They settled in Fort Collins CO. They shared many joys together especially music, travel, and gin. Eventually they spent most of their time enjoying the beautiful home they designed and built in Florida.
Doris was passionate about being an OB nurse and eventually a hospice nurse, bringing her nursing skills and amazing compassion to many families. She enjoyed singing with several choirs, especially with the Larimer Choral, Women’s Choral Group, Daytona Beach Choral Society and the Silvertones. She loved playing duets with her brother Will, children and grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening and created beautiful gardens of roses and tasty vegetables in Florida and Colorado. Many cocktail hours started with her garden vegetables and a good martini. She was a talented seamstress, a fine cook, an animal lover and an exercise enthusiast. What she truly enjoyed most were celebrations and time spent with family and friends. She was overjoyed to have all 4 daughters at her recent 90th birthday party.
She was predeceased by her husband George, brother Howard and daughter Leslie. She is survived by her brother Will, 4 daughters and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
