Allan Mason Stavely, 74, of Socorro, New Mexico passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, in Windsor, Colorado after a brave battle with cancer. He was born February 16, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Baker Stavely and Ann Florence Mason Stavely. He is survived by two brothers, Ken (Kathleen) Stavely of Arizona and Don (Carmen) Stavely of Colorado. He had three nieces, Irene Stavely, Dana Whitbeck (David) and Brittany Correa (Kai) and one nephew, Nicholas Perich, and five great nieces and nephews, Logan, Adaline, Delaney, Avery, and Brooks. He graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School in Birmingham, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1976. Allan accepted a professorship at New Mexico Tech in Socorro where he was widely respected as an educator and as an author and musician. He was a prominent contributor to his adopted home of Socorro for more than four decades. He was very much loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
