Eva Pineda

Eva (no middle name, no matter what she told you) Pineda, née Lomeli, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024 at the lovely age of 84 years young. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Eva was born as the 15^th child of 16 on February 28^th, 1940 in Gill, CO. She grew up in a different world; outhouses, late-night beatings for being out past curfew-even into her twenties, shared beds, and drinking milk directly from the source--which nearly resulted in the loss of her leg when she was four. She enjoyed dancing and often spoke fondly of attending dances in Denver, and loved anything by Elvis.

 After one of the longest engagements in history, 11 years, she and Manuel Pineda were married on November 30, 1974 and spent their lives together in the Windsor, CO area. They welcomed one son, Joaquin Xavier, who was born in Greeley, CO on July 6, 1975.

Eva spent her life caring for those close to her, building a home for her family, helping raise her three grandsons; Eric Jay Weckwerth-Pineda, Tyler Dane, and Adrian Sloan, and caring for her mother until she passed.

She enjoyed trips with her family and friends, creating beautiful things, and telling stories. If you had a need, she had an answer.

She was ornery! And loved to laugh. She will be dearly missed.

Eva is survived by her son, Joaquin (Deborah Corine, née Schemp), her three grandsons; Eric, Dane, and Adrian, her great-grandson Alaric Joaquin Weckwerth-Pineda, her sister Julia Arguello, and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel, her parents Macario and Carmel Lomeli, née Concilion, and her many other siblings.
