Helen Nadine Gebhardt was born on October 14th 1928 in Severance, Colorado to the union of Henry and Lena Schlotthauer. She grew up and resided on the family farm in Severance alongside her parents and siblings: Eddie, Robert, Melvin and Everett. She met her beloved Leon Gebhardt in Windsor,
Colorado and were married on August 14th 1949 at Zion Church. They remained in Windsor where Helen and Leon raised their three children: Henrietta O'Neill, Leonard Gebhardt and Elaine LaBue.
To know Helen was to know her love of and importance of Family. From Sunday family dinners to Rocket Days at the Farm just to name a few. Her strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and openly giving help and showing compassion to a stranger or friend in need. Her dedication to the City of Windsor as a Court Clerk for many years, and Civil servant as one of the first female Deputy Sheriff's in the Weld County area. A wonderful seamstress along with her love of being Mrs. Santa Clause. Many people may remember her visits to the Windsor School District students during the Christmas season, passing out candy and bringing holiday joy. Singing always brought a smile to her face, and joy to her heart. She also could be sharp with her words and very strong minded, which at times did make her a force of nature who was not to be taken lightly. She was a strong worker and a fighter to the end. All these qualities made her what she was, and what created all our memories of her that we all will hold close to our hearts forever.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Leon, her son Leonard, her parents and siblings.
Helen is survived by her children Elaine and Henrietta; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; loving sister-in-law, daughter & son's in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
