Helen Smith

Helen Smith passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on 12/07/2024.

Helen was born on 04/10/1932 in Fort Collins, CO. Helen was the youngest of six children of Marie and Frederick Hergert. She attended school at Beebe Draw east of Peckham, CO. Helen had many fond memories of her first job, Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greeley.

Helen met Lynn in the spring of 1952 after he was discharged from the Navy, and they were married in November 1952. In their marriage they had three boys, Stan, Timothy and Jeffrey, and they raised their family in LaSalle, CO. Helen worked as a teacher’s aide at LaSalle Elementary. After retirement Helen and Lynn settled in Windsor, CO.

She is survived by two sons – Stan (Deb) Smith of Pahoa, HI and Tim (Betsey) Smith of Windsor, CO. Two grandsons - Tyler (Rachelle) Smith of Windsor and Brycen (Bonnie) Smith of Fort Collins. There are five great-grandchildren – Lexi, Nixon and Max of Windsor and Lucy and Calvin of Fort Collins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Lynn Smith and her youngest son Jeffrey.

Helen was proud to be the oldest member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, being a member for 87 years.
