Joseph John Bisceglia, a servant of the Lord, was born and raised in Harrison NY. He graduated from Harrison High School, Fork Union Military Academy Prep School in Virginia, and earned his Animal Science degree at Southern University of New York at Farmingdale Long Island. Joe met the love of his life, Dale Swantek, and they were married July 24th 1970 before moving to Colorado. In Colorado, Joe completed his education at CSU earning a BA in Wildlife Biology. He worked many jobs over the years. He was a Colorado State Patrolman, owned his own logging business, and began meat cutting at Beaver's Market in LaPorte. He later continued cutting meat at King Soopers, where he spent 30 years. In his life, his biggest passion (besides his family) was trapping. He spent countless hours on the farms and mountains of Northern Colorado and later Wyoming trapping pine marten, fox, bobcats and countless other animals. He was an expert in his field and his adventures were captured several times in American Trapper Magazine. He met many people through trapping that became lifelong friends. Joe had a magnetic personality and when he told a story, people loved to listen. He was a great husband to Dale and a great father to his two boys, Joseph and Daniel Bisceglia. He was an even better grandfather (Poppy) to his 4 grandkids, Mycah, Joseph, William, and Truvy Bisceglia. He loved to take them fishing, play cards, and watch their sporting events. If you ever met Joe, I'm sure hearing his name puts a smile on your face. Joe entered into the presence of the Lord on April 22, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Frances Bisceglia and his sister MaryJo Kryston. He is survived by his lovely wife Dale Bisceglia, his sons Joseph (Leah) Bisceglia and Daniel (Brittany) Bisceglia, and his grandkids Mycah and Joseph Bisceglia and William and Truvy Bisceglia. He will be greatly missed. A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude or Pathways of Northern Colorado.
The Last Trap
Continue your journey, enjoy your time, don't stop and cry for me.
This place is amazing ....the wonder...the beauty, greater than your wildest dreams.
I now wade through the brooks, just to paddle the lakes and streams...
the struggles and the pain of this life that has passed, just a distant memory.
I now walk through the forest with leaps and bounds, these tired, swollen old feet no longer slowin' me down
take a walk with me in the forest, hear my memories in the rustling leaves.
stop, take solace in the moment....this quiet was like home to me.
Trappin' season it's upon us, it was my most favorite time of the year
but sadly, my friend, my last trap's been set.....know it wasn't my choice to leave.
But now that I'm gone, these burdens behind, put a smile on while thinking of me,
may memories be happy, bring joy and goodwill
'cause gladly now I am free.
