Keith Olszewski

May 20, 1959 — September 27, 2024

Keith Steven Olszewski began eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ September 27, 2024, following a multi-year journey with a genetic kidney disease. His desire throughout his life was to glorify and honor God.

Keith was born in 1959 to Ken and Sally Olszewski in Washington D.C., a member of the Comanche Tribe. He met Celinda Koontz in a singles group at Council Road Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. They were married in March 1986 and celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year. Keith loved the Lord and lived life with a passion for sharing Christ with those around him. He loved to engage people wherever he went, helping them to have fun and enjoy life. His signature Hawaiian shirts messaged to others his open and fun-loving personality.

His love for children made him a “kid magnet”. Children, including many nieces and nephews, gravitated to him with his warm smile and often pocket full of candy that he generously shared along his way. He enjoyed coffee with friends, laughing, traveling, and spending time at the beach and in the mountains with Celinda. His mentoring of young adults, including nieces and nephews, in ministry and navigating life’s challenges was appreciated. He earned bachelor degrees in general studies and elementary education from the University of Central Oklahoma (formerly Central State University), Edmond, OK, and a master’s degree in counseling from Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, OK. His professional, civic, and ministry life experiences were diverse. He served most recently as lay pastor at Severance Community Church in Severance, CO, private practice Counselor and corporate Chaplain in the Northern Colorado area. Other experiences included working in several corporate businesses early in his career, completing army basic training, teaching elementary school 10 years, serving on the board of the Bethany (OK) Chamber of Commerce and was active with the Windsor (CO) and Severance (CO) Chambers of Commerce and the Windsor Optimist Club. He served as a deacon, bible study leader and VBS volunteer at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Windsor, distributed many Bibles through Gideons International, and exercised his passion for helping others through the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief ministry including on-site volunteer work in the 2004 Thailand tsunami; the 2005 Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the 2008 Windsor tornado.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Chet Knuppel and sister-in-law, Cynthia Stapp. He is survived by wife, Celinda; sister, Kendra Knoedler (David) of Greeley, CO; brother-in-law, Mark Stapp of Oklahoma City, OK, and brother-in-law-and-sister-in-law, Craig and Susan Koontz of Spring, TX. Also surviving him are nephews, Kyle Knuppel of Aurora, CO; Jonathan Stapp of Wellston OK; Logan Koontz of China, TX; Grant Koontz of Nederland, CO; and nieces Michelle Cheng, Edmond, OK; Sarah Atkinson, Weatherford, OK; Rachel Stapp, Oklahoma City, OK; Rebekah Stapp, Oklahoma City, OK; and Caroline Copeland, Cypress, TX.

Keith’s life positively impacted many. He will be remembered fondly and much missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Keith requested gifts in his honor be made to the local chapter of Gideons International, PO Box 331, Windsor, CO, 80550.
