Lois Margaret Faulkner (née Nelson) 96, passed away on December 21, 2024. Lois was born in Harlingen, TX, the first of three children to Ralph and Loretto Nelson. She grew up in Chadron, Nebraska. After graduating from High School, she attended Chadron State College and received an associate’s degree in home economics, she then applied for and received a teaching certificate. While teaching elementary school in Powell, Wyoming, she met a young engineer named Joe Bailey Faulkner; they were married in Casper, Wyoming in 1950. After a few years in Powell, Wyoming, Joe’s work in the oil industry led them back to Casper, where they lived for nearly twenty years with their six children. In 1973, Joe was transferred to Denver, Colorado. Joe and Lois completed their story in Littleton, CO, where Joe passed on December 31, 2011. Lois continued to live in Littleton until 2023, when she moved to Loveland, CO, to be closer to her daughter.
Lois was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, who put the welfare of her family above all else. One of her greatest joys was having her home filled with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker, so these gatherings were always filled with good food. In addition, Lois was an accomplished seamstress.
Outside the home, Lois was very active in the Catholic Church, she was an organizer and active member of the Altar and Rosary Society. In later years she was also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) wives.
Lois is survived by her sister (Doris), her brother (Richard), five of her six children: Robert (Carol), Richard (Phyllis), Catherine (Donald), William (Michelle) and Thomas (Rhonda), eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Loreta, her husband, Joe, and her youngest daughter, Mary.
Memorial Services will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fort Collins on January 16, 2025 at 1pm. A private Interment will be scheduled at Mount Zion Cemetery in Collinsville, Texas.
