Loraine Elizabeth Payne, 100, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away June 4, 2019 after a century of wonderful living.
Loraine was born March 4, 1919, the first-born daughter to George and Matilda (Voss) Bindner on the family farm in Bourbon, Missouri. Her sisters, Deloris and Sylvia preceded her in death.
She married her high school sweet heart Howard Payne on April 18, 1936.
They and had three sons, Howard Jr, Leon, and Larry - Leon died a few months after birth -Howard Jr and Larry had 7 children between the two of them that eventually lead to18 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. Loraine adored all 41 of her grandchildren. Howard and Loraine moved to Colorado from Missouri in 1952 for Howard’s health.
Loraine was a homemaker who enjoyed working part-time. She spent many days and nights scoring bowling for men’s bowling leagues. Howard and Loraine loved to travel and spent as much time on the road exploring as possible. They were founding and life-time members of Parkview Congregational Church in Aurora. Loraine was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing and knitting. Loraine loved her life and always said she would love to live it over again.
A celebration of Loraine’s amazing life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at Parkview Congregational Church, 12444 E Parkview Drive, Aurora with the Rev. Corbin Tobey-Davis officiating. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow. Loraine’s final resting place will be at the Sullivan, Missouri, Cemetery where she will join her beloved husband Howard, and son, Leon.
