Maxine Davis

June 8, 1929 — January 19, 2025

Vileta (Maxine) Davis, 95, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully entering her eternal home January 19, 2025.

She was born June 8, 1929, at St. Lukes hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to William McKinley and Velma Obie Icenhower.

Maxine graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri and attended 1 ½ years of college where she was studying to become an elementary teacher.

Maxine met her future husband Charles (Chuck) Davis on a blind date in February of 1955 and they were married September 3, 1955.

Maxine and Chuck, along with their 3 young children Cheryl, Cathy and Ken, moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1960, where she lived until her passing.

She worked for a short period of time for Forney’s Industry after moving to Fort Collins until Chuck and she opened their own business in 1962, Davis Linoleum & Tile. The name was later changed to Falcon Linoleum & Tile. While Chuck worked on the labor side of the business, Maxine handled all the customers, ordering and the financial end of the business.

In 1974 they sold Falcon Linoleum & Tile and in 1977 started Davis Construction. Maxine went to work for New Creation Interiors where she worked until she retired at the age of 70.

After retiring Chuck and Maxine enjoyed creating craft projects together and selling them at craft fairs throughout Northern Colorado. They were never apart and were married 59 years before Chuck passed away in 2015. Their love and devotion to each other was a testament to all who knew them.

Maxine was a devoted and loving wife and was always focused first on the Lord and then her family. This made her the kind of mother she was, priceless. She was always there with her support, love, encouragement, kind words and sweet smile. She was always putting others first, never thinking of her needs, only of others.

She was a Boy Scout Leader and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and loved children. She volunteered for several events and tasks at the churches she attended and was always available to serve wherever and however she could. She would smile and strike up a conversation with anyone she met. By the time she was done chatting, she had won a heart.

She loved crafting, sewing, working puzzles, crosswords and in her earlier years fishing.

Most importantly, she Loved the Lord with her whole heart, was obedient and served Him with love and devotion from a very young age. She never waivered.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) Davis, parents, and one brother Kenneth, who passed at age 13 from Polio. She is survived by her children Cheryl (Don) Hesser of Johnstown, Cathy (Mike) Ramsey of Fort Collins, Ken (Cynthia) Davis of Fort Collins; 4 grandchildren Tanya (Doug) Witt of Fort Collins, Shawna (Kevin Maj) of Windsor, Kodi Davis of Loveland, Kiley Davis of Loveland; 4great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
