Michael E Velasquez passed away in peace at home on June 9, 2021 at the age of 70. Despite the physical toll that scleroderma has taken on his body over the last 15+ years, he remained a pillar of strength and was surrounded by loved ones as he courageously concluded his earthly journey.
Michael was born February 13, 1951 in Del Norte, Colorado, to Lubin & Floripa Velasquez. Growing up a mischievous boy in Gallup and Crownpoint, New Mexico, he graduated from Gallup High School in 1969 and subsequently attended the University of Colorado - Boulder. There, through a shared enjoyment in foosball and beer pitchers, he successfully wooed his wife of 47 years, Gerri. Together, they built their life, residing in Denver, Longmont and ultimately Windsor which has been their home for the last 26 years.
A dedicated brewer at Anheuser-Busch for 27+ years, Michael enjoyed a good and humorous time with family and friends. He was never in short supply of humor nor Budweisers.
He is survived by wife, Gerri Velasquez; daughter, Soncirae Velasquez (Qiwei Li); daughter, Pearl Velasquez; son from previous marriage, Michael Anthony Velasquez (Tamie); brother, Paul Velasquez (Ida); sister-in-law, Pat Velasquez; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
