Nicky Bottoms-Monroe

Mary Lorraine "Nicky" Bottoms-Monroe, 84, passed away at her home on June 19, 2024. Born to Walter and Rachel Ehrlich on January 31, 1940, she was one of five children. Born and raised in Colorado, her family lived in Windsor, where she attended Windsor High School. Participating in cheerleading, band and athletics, she graduated in 1958.

Nicky was married to Rodney Van Bottoms from 1960-1985. They had two children Todd Van Bottoms and Kimara Lee Bottoms (Higbee) Hansell. During this time, Nicky attended and graduated from cosmetology school, setting her on a career path spanning almost 50 years. In 1968 Nicky opened her first beauty salon on Mountain Ave, next to Steel's Market, which began her profession of making people feel and look beautiful which she truly enjoyed. She loved meeting new people and building relationships with her clients.

Nicky was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Fort Collins and was very proud of her family heritage and history. She loved spending time with her family, particularly at yearly extended family picnics or celebrating happy occasions with a traditional Dutch Hop. Nicky also enjoyed the outdoors, whether working in the yard, taking walks, playing golf or visiting Horsetooth Lake. She had a passion for helping others, believing it was how she could serve the Lord, and was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed.

In 2004, Nicky married the love of her life, Fletcher Monroe, in Montrose, where they resided. The two spent years traveling the country and building a life together, enjoying adventures that took them to the front range and California. After retirement in 2020, Fletcher and Nicky decided to make their retirement home in Greeley to be close to both of their families.

Nicky is survived by her loving husband, Fletcher Monroe; her son, Todd Van Bottoms; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Bottoms; grandchildren, Samantha Bottoms, Nick Bottoms and Ryan Bottoms; her daughter, Kimara L. Hansell; son-in-law Chris Hansell; grandchildren, Joshua Higbee, Jacob Higbee, Jordan (Higbee} Berry, great-grandson Noah Higbee; Stepson Jason Monroe, daughter- in-law Angela Monroe granddaughter Jenna Monroe; Stepdaughter Katie Monroe and granddaughter Krystal Monroe. As well as nephews and nieces whom she loved with all her heart, She, was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.

A service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Mark's Funeral Home, 9293 Eastman Park/ Windsor Colorado, at 2PM, followed by a celebration of life at Fletchers and Nicky's house at 6349 Ashcroft Rd. Greeley, CO
