Orlean “Orly” Tangbakken went home to his Lord on April 12th, 2023. Orly was born on June 9th, 1939 to Jorgen and Jenniva (Kvanvig) Tangbakken at Hettinger, North Dakota,and lived there until 1955 when his family moved to Longmont, Colorado. He graduated from Longmont High School with the Class of ‘57 and also graduated from Waldorf Junior College in Forest City, Iowa.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and after basic training and some schooling was sent to Frankfurt, Germany to serve in the Army Security Agency. Orly was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant and received a good conduct medal. Orly worked at Kodak Colorado Division from 1972 to 2001, working in a variety of areas from disc film to x-ray film inspection, and retired from there. Orly has always enjoyed music and has sung in many choirs and musical groups. A great joy of his was
singing with a choral group known as “Lutheran Men of Song.” Orly was a faithful Christian and shared his faith freely. He was a soft-spoken, easygoing man who loved people and enjoyed long chats. Orly was preceded in death by his mother Jenniva, his father Jorgen, sister Alice Klein, brother Harold Tangbakken, and nephew Loren Tangbakken. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Christopher Femmenino of Greeley, as well as a granddaughter, Thera Femmenino of Greeley; a step-
granddaughter, Eve Femmenino of Fort Collins; a twin brother Orlando “Landy” Tangbakken of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, April 28th at Redeemer Lutheran Church; 7755 Greenstone Trail; Fort Collins, Colorado. A viewing will begin at 9:30am with the service beginning at 10:30am and luncheon to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
