Paul “Pauly” Martin Ross passed away suddenly on December 9, 2022. He was born In Manhattan, New York on June 27, 1953, to Phyllis Langer and Irwin Ross. Paul grew up in Yonkers, NY. He attended Roosevelt High school. Two weeks before graduation Paul decided he was going to leave NY and hitchhiked to Elk Grove, California. Where he went to work and live at his uncle Larry’s equestrian center. He later moved to the Los Angeles area where he went to college at UCLA for a year until they found out that he had not graduated high school, He then decided to get his GED. In 1973 Paul joined the Navy in LA and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii until 1975. After his military service, he moved around trying various jobs, and camping whenever he found time. In the early 80s, Paul came to Colorado for a visit and never left. He found his “place”. He worked as a ski instructor at Sunlight Ski Resort by day and a fine dining waiter by night in Glenwood Springs. Paul moved to Ft. Collins in 1985. This is where he found his calling in real estate and spent over thirty years as a broker. A highlight for Paul was serving as a major player in the development of Manor Ridge Estates between Ft. Collins and Loveland. Most recently, he applied his technology and customer service experience as a Senior Onboarding Representative on the Chat team, for the email marketing firm Constant Contact.
As proud as Paul was of his career path, the most important aspect of his life was his family, wife Rhonda, and two sons Christopher Michael (1994) and Kevin Robert (2003). Paul’s romance with Rhonda (Pykiet) began in 1990 at the Landings Restaurant at Horsetooth Reservoir where she worked as a waitress. He took her for a boat ride and their love story began. They married in Ft. Collins, Colorado on June 13, 1992. Paul loved his family deeply. He was a wonderful provider, father, husband, teacher, and friend. In addition, he was able to bring his family together to live in a multi-generational home, which also had room for Rhonda’s mother (until she recently passed away). He enjoyed boating, golfing, looking at property, and listening to music. He loved the Blues, Jazz, and Jimmy Buffet; he was an avid Parrothead.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Bracken; his grandparents Sam and Anita Langer; and his in-laws Bob and Frances Pykiet. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his children Christopher (wife Sydney) and Kevin; his sister Sally Loiacono and his twin brother Warren (wife Alice); and Larry Langer his uncle (wife Marnye).
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 am at Mark’s funeral home in Windsor, CO. If you would like to honor Paul’s love for Jimmy Buffet, feel free to wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt.
