Paul Ronald Seilbach, 80, of Windsor, CO, passed away Oct. 13, 2021.
He was born Feb. 20, 1941 in Greeley, CO to Jacob and Mary (Winder) Seilbach. He attended schools in Gill and Windsor where Paul graduated from Windsor High School in 1959.
He married Jeanine Marie Reinheimer Aug. 11, 1960 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor, where they were members. They were married for 55 years before Jeanine passed in 2016.
They raised their three children on the family farm north of Windsor, where Paul farmed for many years, growing corn, sugar beets, beans and feeding cattle. Upon selling the farm in 1978, the couple bought a farm in Holyoke where Paul continued farming, along with his son, Dennis. After leaving farming, Paul and Dennis started their own small businesses, including Jiffy Lube in Loveland and two car washes in Greeley.
After retiring, Paul used his farming skills by transferring his knowledge to the couple’s backyard garden, where he and Jeanine, and later, Dennis, would grow a bounty of vegetables. He was especially proud of his sweet corn, which his family loved.
Paul’s family was his source of love and joy. He loved attending his grandsons’ sporting events and school activities. He was an avid and loyal sports fan of all teams Colorado, never missing watching a Denver Broncos or Denver Nuggets game. His love of sports was formed at a young age. He often told of skipping school so he and a friend could watch Don Larsen pitch a perfect game in 1956 on the local pool hall’s television. Even getting caught by the principal was worth it, he would remember!
Paul was a survivor of childhood polio and would tell of his time in a hospital room being treated for the disease. And as his health issues mounted in the last months of his life, he never gave in to his illnesses and fought until his last breath.
We will remember his generosity, his ornery nature and his ability to make us laugh. He will be missed greatly, but as he would like to say, “we’ll see you down the road.”
He is survived by his son, Dennis Seilbach (Sally) of Windsor; daughters, Janet Thayer (Bob) of Windsor, Dianne Magnifico (Vinnie) of Colorado Springs; grandsons, Derek Seilbach (Kim) of Englewood, Dustin Seilbach of Edgewater, Dominic Magnifico (Molly) of Commerce City and Richard Thayer of Windsor; great grandchildren, Alivia Seilbach and Leo Magnifico; sister, Jeanne Kreps (Robert) of Greeley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanine; parents; sister, Darlene Bernhardt; brother, Robert Seilbach and niece, Patricia Seilbach.
A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
