Just a little past 3:00 pm on September 23, 2024, Renee Mary Jo Lovitt passed peacefully from this world and went to see her maker. Renee was born December 29, 1949, in Denver Colorado to Harry Raymond and Betty Lou Meyer. Born prematurely, Renee was small and frail, but her personality and will to survive were large and strong. She suffered an illness as a baby that left her severely hearing impaired, but her strong will and determination didn’t let her deafness cripple her. In fact, she learned to read lips and sign well. Although she could be quite stubborn, she had a gentle kindness that was unsurpassed. She loved truly and ever so deeply. As a young child, Renee spent most of her time with her parents and siblings, Harry, Mike, Merrilynn and Betty Rae on a small ranch at Azure Colorado. Renee attended Kremmling elementary school, where she met her dear, life-long friend Twila (Wheatley) O’Hotto. Azure was home to Renee and spending time at the ranch always brought her joy. Whether she was fishing down on the Colorado river or a nearby creek, or riding her black horse she affectionately named Susie, she was in her element. Due to her hearing impairment, Renee and her parents moved to Denver so that she could attend the Evan’s school for the deaf. From there she went on to attend East High School where she graduated in 1969. After graduating high school, Renee returned to the ranch at Azure where she helped her parents ranch and enjoyed her love for animals and the outdoors. While attending the Evan’s school for the deaf, she met Vernon Lovitt. They were smitten with one another and after Renee finished high school, they were married. Sharing a love for the outdoors and all it entailed, they were always off fishing, camping or hunting. When not out enjoying nature, they would make their rounds visiting family in their well packed truck with Queenie, Renee’s dog, riding shotgun. She never stopped loving that silly ol’ cow dog and talked about her until the day she died. In her later years, Renee lived at Pelican Point in Windsor Colorado, where she made friends with the staff and residents. It was there that she passed away. She is survived by her sister Merrilynn Heeney (Jim Heeney), her sister-in-law Carolyn Meyer and her nieces and nephews: Stephanie Sanford, Debbi Heeney, Boyd Meyer (Allison Meyer), Wendy Bricher (Matt Bricher), Tammi Haddad, Tiffany Kula (Jeremy Kula), Sean Meyer (Kathy Jennings) and Scott Parks (Rachel Parks). Funeral services will be graveside at Lakeview Cemetery, October 4th, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
