Robert Dale Swetzig of Gill, Colorado passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 59 years of age.
Robert was born on August 1st, 1961 to Alice (Fugate) and Gilbert Swetzig in Greeley, Colorado and was a brother to Wayne and Ivy Swetzig and Ralynn Shoppe. We know now that Bob is now with his parents and brother Wayne and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven. He will be missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda (Blandin) Swetzig and children Jason Swetzig of Greeley, Jeremey Swetzig and Samantha Behrens of Thornton, Colorado and Zachary and Laura Swetzig of Gill, Colorado as well as many other loving family members and friends.
As a young man, Robert worked in Greeley and graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1979 and was married in 1980 to Wanda Blandin. He was an avid Bronco fan, loved cats and playing the lottery, watching NASCAR racing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and when called upon he could fix anything that seemed to be broken from a feed truck to a lawn mower.
Robert's love of the cattle industry and its people led him to work for Bohlander farming, Meyers Feedlot and Larson Cattle Operations in Colorado for the past 40 years. To family, friends and coworkers, he was truly the “Jack of all trades,” doing everything from carpentry, truck driving, mechanical , electrical and farming. Robert worked hard and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to his family, neighbors and even strangers broken down on the side of the road.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church at 3333 16th Street in Greeley, Colorado .
