Bob Winter, 77, of Severance CO passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, in Greeley, CO with his
family by his side. He was born June 22, 1946, in Greeley, Colorado to Robert and Helen (Green) Winter.
He grew up nearby and graduated from Eaton High School. He married his high school sweetheart on
October 9, 1964. He began his career working for IBM as a machinist, then later started the family farm
in the Galeton area. In 1976 he purchased a farm and relocated to Windsor. While farming, Bob raised
corn, silage, sugar beets, Coors barley, alfalfa, pinto beans, sunflowers, and onions, along with operating
a thousand-head hog operation. After 34 years of being dedicated to the farm, he retired with Janet in
the Severance area.
He was a 20-year retired fireman and EMT from the Windsor-Severance Fire Department, having held
various positions throughout his service. He also held numerous offices and board positions for Weld
County and Colorado Farm Bureau. He advocated for farmers and their water rights throughout the
state of Colorado during his time with Farm Bureau. Other ag organizations included Colorado Pork
Producers and the Colorado Corn Growers Association. He was recognized with the National Pork
Producers Pork All-American Award and as a High 10 Grower for the Western Sugar Company. He
enjoyed time with family, serving his church, traveling, camping, and fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janet, and children: Deborah (Kevin) Martin of Mitchell, NE; Robert (Becky)
Winter of Windsor, and Julie (Jason) Rothe of Greeley; six grandchildren: Krystle (Clark) Schaneman,
Warren (Kirsten) Martin, Rachel (Cameron) Wilson, Lori Winter (Chris Mylar), Jenna & Jay Rothe and 3
great-grandchildren: Mark and Natalie Schaneman and Matthew Martin and two brothers: Dick (Linda)
Winter family, Jerry (Jane) Winter family as well as numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean.
Services will be held at Faith Church, 1020 Walnut Street, Windsor, CO on Monday, October 23rd
at 10AM.
Graveside services will be at Lakeview Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Faith Church. Friends,
family, and all those whose families were touched by Bob are welcome to attend.
