Saundra Perkins entered her eternal rest on January 2, 2025 at the age of 85.
While living, she was a resident on-the-move. There would be seven states she would call home during her lifetime. Saundra began life in Nebraska City, Nebraska where she was born to Dale and LaVerne Livingston, at the close of the Great Depression. The first move was to California where she spent her childhood years. Adventure called and Saundra moved to Alaska. She joined her sister’s family on their remote homestead and met her husband, Richard. They soon moved to Washington state where they raised their family of three children: Pam, Luke and Jim. Saundra ultimately had ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Anyone spending time in her home soon saw the immense love she held for her extended family.
Saundra was a homemaker extraordinaire, secretary, and a travel agent. Thoroughness and professionalism were the trademarks of any effort she endeavored. Her devotion to God and family led to teaching Sunday Bible class as well as leading church or community projects. Quite often others would call upon her to direct projects that needed assistance. When Saundra and Dick moved to Austin, Texas she served as assistant manager with AAA Travel. When given the opportunity to return to Alaska, they did. She continued working with AAA and Whitsett Travel. Retirement sent them to live in Tennessee with their daughter, Pam, and her family. Upon her husband’s passing in 2005, Saundra moved to Colorado to a new home with her son, Jim, and his family. In each place that Saundra called home, she immersed herself in the church. Her belief was very real to her and framed her daily routine.
Saundra enjoyed a reputation of being a gentle, loving servant and a survivor. Her fighting spirit helped her survive a long list of health challenges. She was proceeded in death by: her beloved husband, Richard; siblings Dale and Phyllis (Don); and her son Luke. She is survived by: her children Pam (Sam) and Jim (Kim); daughter-in-law Leslie; siblings Mary, Bill (Marian) and Tom (Jan); grandchildren Erika (Ed), Jonathan (Amanda), Saundra (Zack), Caleb (Jennifer), Holly (Tyler), Lindsey (Stephen), Hilary (Christian), Nathan, Emily and Andrea; and great grandchildren Rio, Geo, Krysta, David, Samuel, Hannah, Ruth, Leah, Olivia, Theo, Harper, Elliana, and Fletcher.
Those who knew her feel she is the embodiment of the capable and admirable woman described in Proverbs 31.
